The Silver Institute’s annual account of silver supply, demand and the market balance — free to read, no travel needed.

Overview

The World Silver Survey is the Silver Institute’s annual report on the silver market, researched and written by the consultancy Metals Focus. It sets out mine supply, recycling, demand from industry, jewellery, investment and other uses, and the resulting market balance for the year just ended, with an outlook for the year ahead. The 2026 edition came out on 15 April 2026.

It is the source behind many of the silver supply and demand figures quoted elsewhere, including on this site, so reading it first-hand is a good way to check a claim about silver deficits.

Who it is for

Anyone who holds or follows silver: new investors who want the supply-and-demand picture from the source, experienced investors checking a claim, and analysts who need the full tables.

What is in it

Supply, demand and balance tables, commentary on each part of the market, and an outlook. The 2026 edition came out in April; the Silver Institute had not announced the next one as of October 2026.

Geographic emphasis

Global, with mine supply and demand broken down for the main producing and consuming countries.
